Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, P.C., and Porzio Compliance Services, LLC., hosted the 3rd edition of the Puerto Rico Pharmaceutical Summit, a conference that will discuss a range of topics related to pharmaceutical manufacturing, distribution, licensing, regulatory and legislative outlooks and the opportunities and challenges that Puerto Rico must prioritize to facilitate a robust ecosystem to foster growth and sustainability for the pharmaceutical industry locally.
The Puerto Rico Pharmaceutical Summit was held at San Juan’s La Concha Hotel and featured discussion panels with exponents of the public and private sector from Puerto Rico and North America. Senator Rick Scott shared virtual remarks and Puerto Rico’s Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González also shared her views on this important economic development industry.
The State of the Pharmaceutical Industry in Puerto Rico panel discussion will consist of executives from the PR Manufacturing Association (PRMA), the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC) and the Pharmaceutical Industry Association (PIA) who will discuss strategic initiatives to grow this key economic sector.
The conference agenda covered panel topics on FDA issues related to the export of regulated products from Puerto Rico and a federal and legislative outlook panel with Dr. Elizabeth Fowler, Director for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation and Nolan Ahern, Deputy Policy Director for the House of Representatives. Afternoon discussion topics will explore Experiences and Challenges of State Licensing and Distribution with from McNeil and Novartis manufacturing executives and Best Practices to Address Compliance Concerns and Risks in the manufacturing processes. The conference is also scheduled to address federal investigations related to product adulterations and legal class actions resulting from said corporate critical incidents.
